Weekend Navigator

10 lecturing evenings on Tuesdays

This class replaces the Advanced Coastal Navigation Course and tailors more to the weekend navigator and enhances Electronic Navigation, including GPS.

Hands on GPS training during class room sessions.

Bring your own GPS.

Pre-voyage planning with Way Points, Navigating underway, Double checking your Navigation, Navigation tools, Compass, Responding to Changing Conditions and other Electronics (including Radar), Electronic Chart Plotters, Depth Sounders, VHF-FM Radio with Weather, Electronic Compasses and Auto Piloting. Also, discussion with Local Knowledge.

Which boat is for you, equipment for your boat, trailering, boat handling, "highway" signs, rules you must follow, piloting, marine engines, lines and knots, weather, VHF radio, inland boating, personal water craft, hypothermia, sailboats and CO poisoning.

Sailboats and how it sails, basic sailboat maneuvering, rigging and boat handling, equipment for your boat, trailering, highway signs, rules of the road, inland boating, sailing safety, sail trim and sail handling, introduction to navigation, lines and knots, weather and using your marine radio.
